International Preservation & Restoration Grants Program
2010 OFFICIAL APPLICATION GUIDELINES

 

             Applications MUST be typed.  All questions MUST be answered and responses limited to the spaces provided.  The application may be typed on the Website form, downloaded, signed, and mailed to the International Preservation & Restoration Chairman.  (Applications cannot be submitted online.)  Additional information beyond what is requested MUST be limited to one additional 8½" x 11" sheet typewritten on ONE SIDE ONLY.  Photographs CANNOT be submitted.  (However, photographs are encouraged as a record of progress and may be requested of all completed projects.)  A line drawing, if desired, may be submitted as the additional page.

            Applications postmarked after November 15 WILL NOT be considered.  Printed material or copies thereof with regard to project are NOT to be submitted due to difficulty with reproduction.

            Applications which do not TOTALLY COMPLY with instructions WILL NOT be considered.

INTERNATIONAL BYLAWS STATE:

            “Chapters in Chartered States or Provinces which solicit support from other chapters or from the public for preservation and/or restoration projects must obtain prior written approval for each project from the State or Provincial Executive Board.  Chapters in Unchartered States or Provinces must obtain prior written approval from the International Executive Board.  Chapters may engage in fundraising activities exclusively within the chapter membership to supplement their treasuries.”  (Article XVI, Section 11).  *A COPY OF THE APPROVAL LETTER(s)  (1. Project approval & 2. Fundraising approval if done OUTSIDE of the chapter) MUST BE SUBMITTED WITH THIS APPLICATION.

 

THE FOLLOWING WILL BE CONSIDERED FOR FUNDING:

  1. Appropriate antique objects or artifacts, authentic period items, for existing historical buildings, museums and/or landmarks which are publicly owned (i.e., a church owned by a government entity is publicly owned; and a church owned by a diocese or denomination is privately owned).
  2. Restorative construction on historic buildings and/or landmarks (may include replacement of damaged section of roof and windows, repair of existing fencing, reproduction of lost portions of existing fencing, restoration of existing headstones) and appropriate conservation housing for the display of historic artifacts.
  3. Repair of irreplaceable artifacts for existing historic buildings or landmarks.
  4. Replication/reproduction of wall paper, carpet, and/or curtains/drapes to match existing swatches or photographs from this historic building, museum, or landmark.
  5. Painting/staining matching previous color swatch to preserve historical buildings, museums, and/or landmarks.

 

THE FOLLOWING WILL NOT BE CONSIDERED FOR FUNDING:

  1. Replication/reproduction/construction of new structures, new furniture, new objects/artifacts, of/for the historical buildings, museums, or landmarks.
  2. Office equipment; making or saving to videos, CDs, DVDs, Microfilm, Microfiche; printed material; general maintenance; speculative research (i.e..archaeological digs, investigative, individual or private research); cemetery plaques; interpretive panels; or signage
  3. Gardens, plantings, landscaping, or cosmetic painting/changes/additions.
  4. Moving of historic buildings, landmarks and/or objects.
  5. Historic buildings, landmarks or objects, which are individually or privately owned, leased or rented.
  6. For purchase and/or installation of heating/cooling/security systems in historic buildings

 

RETURN COMPLETED APPLICATION WITH COPIES OF REQUIRED FORMS, LETTERS AND ANY ADDITIONAL INFORMATION TO THE QUESTERS INTERNATIONAL PRESERVATION AND RESTORATION CHAIRMAN.  

KEEP A COPY OF THIS APPLICATION FOR YOUR FILE.
