ANTIQUES  ANYONE  ?

Have you ever received a family antique or treasure?  Have you ever looked at an item or artifact and wondered, what on earth is that?  Have you ever guessed at its history while asking yourself what it was used for and who might have utilized it in their daily routine?  Have you ever told yourself how fortunate you are to be surrounded by antiquities and memorabilia from the past?  Answering yes to any of these questions means that you already are a Quester at heart!

Questers are collectors of antiques, collectibles, and history.   Questers spend their time learning about their treasures from books, libraries, and friends. Questers help to preserve and restore antiquities, buildings, and historic sites.  Questers also help students gain a Master of Arts Degree in  Historic Art Conservation by awarding a Fellowship at Winterthur/University of Delaware and a Master of Science Degree in Historic Preservation and Restoration with two Scholarships at Columbia University.

Questers are over 15,000 strong, living in the United States and Canada.  Our organization is made up of over 900 chapters in 43 states and 2 provinces.  Each chapter has between 8 and 30 members, usually meeting in homes, unless going on a tour or antiquing trip.  Members give short talks at their monthly meetings on an antique or collectible after researching information on their topic.  There are usually two State/Provincial Meetings each year and an annual International Convention held in the spring in different areas.  The 2010 International Convention was held at the Biltmore Rresort and Spa in Phoenix, Arizona. and the 2011 International Convention will be held at the Double Tree Hotel, Omaha, Nebraska, May 13-15 2011.

EXECUTIVE BOARD

In 1944, THE QUESTERS was founded by  Jessie Elizabeth Bardens to further  knowledge and education about antiques; and, to encourage the preservation, restoration and conservation of historic buildings, sites and antiquities.  Jessie Elizabeth Bardens expressed, "The powers of the mind are memory and imagination: without memory, we have no past; without imagination, no future".  She felt that a person's curiosity, enthusiasm, imagination and memory contribute to constructively acquiring information on our past and utilizing that knowledge to save our history for future generations.

Questers take great pride in their personal education about antiques and their collections, in sharing their knowledge and collections with other Questers, and, especially in the collection of a lifetime....friendships.  Interested?  Click on the "contact" link which will allow you to send THE QUESTERS an email.  We hope to hear from you; and would love to share our organization with interested women and men.  You will not be disappointed.

Here are some examples of what Questers are interested in collecting, writing about, and restoring.
