If you like history, you’ll love the Questers.

PURPOSE

The purpose of The Questers is to enable the preservation and restoration of historic places. The Questers chapters raise and donate funds for the preservation and restoration of historic buildings, sites, landmarks, and artifacts for the benefit of our communities. Our purpose is based on the following belief:

“Through the discovery and knowledge of [history], we can bring the past to life and profit by the experiences of previous generations.” - Jessie Elizabeth Bardens, founder

Many Questers also collect antiques and often share their extensive collections with universities, at chapter meetings, and at public events.

The Questers is a non-profit 501(c)3 international organization founded in 1944. Today there are 5,300 members and over 400 chapters in 34 States and Canadian Provinces. There are 34 chapters in Michigan.

Michigan Questers is a Chartered State member of Questers International (questers1944.org). 

Chapters:

At our chapter meetings, members learn about historic places, meet experts in the field, and plan fund raising activities to preserve and restore such places. We also share members' exciting collections, and visit interesting historic sites, museums, and antique shops.

Chapters typically have eight meetings a year. In addition, all members are invited to a state-wide conference and an International Convention that is held at various locations around the United States and Canada.

Activities:

Funds to support historic preservation are raised through trips, sales, raffles, educational luncheons, and more, all centered on Preservation and Restoration, history, and antiques. Michigan Quester chapters have also received grants from the International Questers Preservation and Restoration fund.
