Oklahoma’s Cimarron Chapter #1195

Cimarron Chapter #1195 received a special recognition award at the Forty-Sixth Governor’s Arts Awards event, held on January 20, 2026, at the State Capitol of Oklahoma for its outstanding efforts to preserve the cultural heritage of the state of Oklahoma.

“The group has made significant projects possible for the Oklahoma State Capitol art collections, working with the Oklahoma Arts Council to restore and safeguard historic works for future generations. Projects made possible by the chapter include restoration of the bronze sculpture of Kate Barnard by Sandra Van Zandt; repair and cleaning of Nellie Shepherd's painting of Oklahoma Cultural Treasure Te Ata; waxing of the bronze busts in the Hall of Governors; restoration of Boris Gordon's painting of Will Rogers; and restoration of the antique frame housing of Mike Wimmer’s painting, “President Teddy Roosevelt Signing Statehood Proclamation,” with the Oklahoma Arts Council public art team. Questers has expanded its impact recently, funding conservation of the Oklahoma War Memorial at the Oklahoma Judicial Center and replacing historic doors at the rural Colony Museum. The chapter's current focus is the historic Route 66 Arcadia Round Barn in preparation for the Mother Road’s centennial celebration.”

Over fifteen people from the chapter attended the ceremony.
