Arizona Questers began in 1973 through the efforts of Lois Bostwick Michaels, who was instrumental in establishing the first 18 Arizona chapters. The Arizona State Organization of Questers was chartered on February 7, 1975.
Today, Questers across Arizona gather to learn, explore, and share their enthusiasm for the past. Whether you participate through a local chapter or as a Member-at-Large, there’s a way to be involved that fits your interests and your schedule.
Questers enjoy programs about history and antiques, field trips, visits to interesting places, and opportunities to discover the people, places, and objects that help tell Arizona’s story. And we’re not just interested in learning about history—we’re committed to doing something to preserve it.
Through fundraising and grants, Arizona Questers support the preservation of historic sites, buildings, and artifacts and help provide educational opportunities that keep history alive for future generations.
Verde Valley Questers parade through town to advertise their homemade pickles and pies at Camp Verde annual events. This chapter has longed supported the restoration and preservation efforts for the historic Hance House at Fort Verde.
Prescott’s Thumb Butte and Yavapai Questers team up every year to host the Prescott Antique Show & Vintage Market. This annual event has produced over $150,000 used to fund area preservation, restoration and education projects.
PRESERVATION & EDUCATION PROJECTS
Since the mid-1970s, Arizona Questers have put their love of history into action. From historic buildings and sites to important artifacts and educational programs, our chapters have supported projects that help preserve Arizona’s heritage for generations to come
Arizona’s Merci Train Boxcar at the McCormick Railroad Park In Scottsdale. The Four Peaks chapter raised funds to pay for new storyboards detailing the historical relationship and enduring friendship between the United States and France following World War
To commemorate the 100th anniversary of women's right to vote, the Arizona State Questers launched a history preservation project in 2020 that featured a six-panel timeline highlighting key dates and milestones.
Hayden’s Ferry chapter in Tempe has a long relationship with the Tempe History Museum—the former site of the Neils Petersen house. Through various fundraising events, the chapter has supported several interior restoration projects that keeps this historic site in good shape.
Tucked away in the little town of Greer in the White Mountains of eastern Arizona is a historic log cabin built in 1913 that now houses the Butterfly Lodge Museum. Palatki chapter received a State grant of $5,900 to restore the exterior of the cabin.
HISTORY IN THE MAKING
Arizona Questers are helping inspire the next generation to discover and appreciate history through our support of National History Day. Each year, Arizona Questers recognize outstanding student work with special awards in three divisions:
Youth Division—$50
Junior Division—$100
Senior Division—$150
These awards recognize students whose work demonstrates a strong interest in history and reflects the spirit of discover, learning, and preserving the stories of our past.

A SUMMARY OF RECENT CHAPTER EVENTS AND FUNDRAISERS

THUMB BUTTE & YAVAPAI CHAPTERS RACK UP ANOTHER SUCCESFUL P&R FUNDRAISER
Over 1100 antiquers and vintage seekers surged into the Prescott Antique Show & Vintage Market, an annual fundraiser produced by Thumb Butte and Yavapai chapters and held at the historic Prescott Rodeo Grounds.
75 vendors set up for the 2-day event, which this year featured a couple of new areas for visitors to enjoy — a Country Market with fresh baked and home made breads, pastries, jam and jellies and event pulled brittle.
While the books haven’t closed, the expectation is the profit from this event will be upwards of $20,000 for chapter preservation and restoration projects.

Janeen Trevillyan - Sedona chapter Quester and President of the Board of Trustees of the Sharlot Hall Museum and Historical Society
Arizona Questers are fortunate to count among our members many dedicated individuals who contribute their diverse talents to the broader community. Janeen, a Sedona chapter Quester for many years, is one of those individuals.
She began her quest to learn about Arizona history when she joined the Sedona Historical Society as a volunteer. For 25 years she was a member of their Board, serving at all levels, and acted as their Sedona Heritage Museum’s Executive Director in a volunteer capacity for most of that time. She also served as their official “Historian” for 12 years. Having achieved her funding goals and able to turn the reins over to professional staff, Janeen has become involved with several other organizations. She also served 9 years on the City of Sedona’s Historic Preservation Commission.
In 2024 she was asked to join the Sharlot Hall Board, taking the president’s position in June 2026.
Janeen has written numerous articles on Sedona history and gives presentations on these topics. She is the co-author of two books on Arizona history, “Images of America-Sedona” and “Sedona Movie Locations – Then & Now”.
Janeen has been honored with several awards for her work in preserving Arizona history, including the Sedona Community Foundation Volunteer of the Year, Museum Assn of Arizona Individual Contribution award, Arizona Culturekeeper, Arizona Main Street Individual of the Year, Sedona Heritage Museum President’s award and the Sharlot Hall Award, among others.
